Building on worldwide expertise
The eighth largest privately-owned American company in 2017, the Bechtel Corporation is a global leader in engineering, construction and project management operating across four key areas:
- Nuclear, Security & Environmental
- Oil, Gas & Chemicals
- Mining & Metals.
Bechtel’s UK-based digital team requested Ink’s support to breathe life into diverse communications around its infrastructure offering. This covers everything from airports and railways through to vast industrial complexes, generating plants and fibre optic cable installations.
Polishing draft content, as well as writing brand new material gleaned from one-to-one interviews with senior managers, we helped produce a suite of capability brochures for Bechtel’s rail, aviation, communications and civil power sectors. Given the scale and high profile of the projects the company undertakes, each demanded a careful balance of readability and credibility – drilling down to the detail in a series of mini-case studies. We’ve also written brochures on Bechtel’s EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) capability in Australia and corporate social responsibility initiatives at Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
With delivery of Bechtel’s larger landmark projects often spanning several years, there’s no shortage of insights to share in extended case studies. Our writers connected directly with Bechtel staff on the ground to get the inside story on a pioneering hydroelectric power complex in Canada’s remote Manitoba province, Muscat’s new international airport and liquefied natural gas facilities in tropical Queensland, Australia.
Bechtel had entered its Keeyask hydroelectric project in the 2017 Construction Team of the Year awards – but needed support to refine a detailed submission running to nearly 6,000 words. Editing five key sections covering ES&H (environment, safety and health), Culture/Values, Customer Focus, Performance and Innovation, we made sure there was a consistent tone throughout. We also added engaging headlines and sub-headlines to boost readability.
“Ink has helped us on multiple projects over the last year – from sector capability brochures and awards submissions, through to case studies. This is a responsive, 100% dependable team of writers who always cover diverse and sometimes complex subjects in a clear, informative and engagingly readable way.” – Claire MacAleese, Infrastructure Global Communications Manager
